Healthy Options

In the 12th century, buckwheat was introduced to Brittany which thrived on the desolate and rocky Breton moors. Buckwheat is related to rhubarb and sorrel.

Buckwheat is high in fiber and offers easily digestive protein and contains all eight essential amino acids. Buckwheat offers a healthful wheat alternative to gluten sensitive people as it is naturally gluten free.

White flour crêpes appeared at the turn of the 20th century when white flour became affordable. White flour crêpes are as thin as buckwheat crêpes but softer as a result of the eggs, milk, and butter.

The batter is spread with a tool known as a rozel and flipped with a spatula. Crepe makers were originally large cast iron plates set over a fire to cook the thin batters. Crêpe griddles are also known as billig in Brittany.

Try several of our savory crepe options from the crepe menu starting with the Classique, Parisienne, or La Saint Jacques, and more.

Breakfast

Breakfast in French: Le Petit Déjeuner

Typically, breakfast in France is a rather light meal. In most French homes, you’d be offered some French bread product (Baguette, Croissant, Chocolate Croissant, Brioche) with a choice of jams, honey, and butter. A hot beverage such as coffee or tea and a glass of juice or yogurt is normally accompanied by our delicious bread options. Children often eat cereal or hot chocolate with bread (+butter and/or jam). French people usually do not eat cheese on any breakfast items.

Lunch

Lunch – le déjeuner.

Many places open for lunch as from 11.30 a.m., and continue
serving new customers until about 1 p.m. Travellers looking for lunch later than 1.15 p.m. may have to try several restaurants before finding one that will serve them, or else make do with a self-service restaurant, where times are generally more flexible.

A typical French lunch will consist of: a starter (une entrée), such as a mixed salad, soup, or paté. A main course, (le plat principal), typically a choice of meat or fish, with potatoes, rice, pasta and/or vegetables; a cheese course

Dinner

In France, A meal often consists of three courses, hors d’œuvre or entrée (starter course, sometimes soup), plat principal (main course), fromage (cheese course) or dessert, sometimes with a salad offered before the cheese or dessert.

The most luxury starter is Foies Gras

The typical main course is the Steak Frite

The favorite dessert are crêpes.

Crepes

The word crêpe is French for pancake and is derived from the Latin crispus meaning“crispy.”Crêpes originated in Brittany. Crêpes were originally called galettes, meaning flat cakes.
